FILLED UP. Let us know if you can't make it, so a wait-listed cyclist can take your place. This hands-on class on Sunday, March 21 was designed for cyclists planning to do South Florida's MS Bike Ride for the first time. A trained instructor will share proven techniques for staying safe when road-riding in large groups. Then he'll go out with you to put your new skills into practice. You must register beforehand.
Neat thing about it is, completing this course will get you a free registration for the Zimmerman MS Bike Ride presented by Mack Cycle and Fitness -- this year if you do the course before registering for the MS, or in 2011 if you've already signed up for the April 17-18 ride. (A code you'll get when you finish the class secures you the free entry.)
The class is offered by Green Mobility Network with the help of the Florida Bicycle Association, Florida's Share the Road program, and Mack Cycle & Fitness. Until class day, here are some related safety tips.
Your instructor, certified by the League of American Bicyclists, will be none other than David Henderson, president of the Florida Bicycle Association and the bicycle-pedestrian coordinator for the Miami-Dade Metropolitan Planning Organization.
